Mosaic Maryville & Albany join Mayo Clinic Network

Mosiac Medical Centers in Maryville and Albany join Mosiac Life Care in St. Joseph in becoming part of the Mayo Clinic Network of hospitals. The announcement for Mosiac Medical Center-Maryville was made this morning in Maryville. President of the Maryville hospital, Nate Blackford, says having Mosiac Life Care in St. Joseph already affiliated with the Mayo Clinic was a huge benefit for the facility.

"The fact the Mosaic was a very early member - I think they were in the top 3 or 4 members, would have been seven or eight years ago now - certainly accelerated our opportunity to be a Mayo Clinic Network.  And honestly, I'm not sure we would have had the same opportunity had we not been part of Mosaic Life Care in St. Joe."

Blackford says local patient care will be enhanced by the medical center's affiliation with the Mayo Clinic.

"The ability to access world-renowned expertise in terms of diagnosis and treatment plans without ever having to leave here to get that expertise.  So the fact that you can get that type of care close to home and at no additional cost to our patients is a huge benefit."

Mosiac is one of more than 40 independent health systems worldwide that has been approved by the Mayo Clinic for special access to their knowledge and resources.
